Elizabeth and Richard had the pleasure of visiting our Chilean distributor, Sociedad Commercial, in Santiago for a week recently. Rossana Salata and her father Louis have represented us for fifteen years. They have seven retail stores, a distribution warehouse and offices in Santiago, and supply universities, craft shops, teachers and artisans throughout Chile.

UK Ashford dealer Shiela Dixon made this beautiful lace cardy in handspun Ashford silk merino blend and dyed inspired by the dye recipes from The Wheel issue 24. The pattern is Ruth Garcia Alcantud's 'Twinkle Twinkle' which appeared in Knit Now magazine, number 16.

Creative Fibre Festival was fabulous - very well-organised and attended with over 1100 registrants and day visitors. The Te Rauparaha venue was excellent but, of course, the best part of Festival for us is meeting spinners and weavers from around NZ and abroad.

Our staff and their partners had a fun night in Christchurch playing 10 pin bowling - with Chris Pike, supervisor of the four sider, posting the highest score.

Delightful Patsy Zawistoski - the Hand Spinnin'Guru, from Chicago, USA - gave two workshops in Ashburton on spinning wool and the high tech fibres as part of her NZ teaching tour.

The Black and Coloured Sheep Breeders Association of New Zealand are holding their annual National Conference and AGM in Motueka 8-12th of May, 2013.

The recent devastating bush fires in Australia have caused much suffering and loss. In Coonabarabran, NSW, 53 homes were destroyed including Liz Taylor's home and wool studio. Liz together with Janelle and Lois (who also lost buildings in the fires) worked at the Wool Studio holding workshops and welcoming groups.

Congratulation to Maree Davey, owner of The Wool Shop in Moonah, Tasmania who with Libby Keoghan (our Australasian sales rep) exhibited & demonstrated the Ashford range at the Bothwell International Highland Spin-In & Fibre Festival in Tasmania.
