Spinning Wheel workshop, Victorian Handweavers & Spinners Guild, Melbourne, Australia. Richard was invited by Dorothy Robb to the Victorian Handweavers & Spinners Guild for a spinning wheel and drum carder maintenance workshop and tune-up day on Saturday 21st January. This proved to be very popular with over 35 Ashford wheels and carders being checked over and by Richard and his "apprentice" Geoff Noll. A few of the wheels were over 40 years old and it was wonderful to see these early Ashford wheels still in great condition. Most wheels only required tightening up, oil, new leather, drive band, brake band and a couple of springs to return them to original condition. The Ashford Wax Polish again proved ideal for restoring & nourishing the lovely Silver Beech hardwood & giving it a rich smooth luster.
