Eastside Gallery, a cooperative of crafts people from the Ashburton District, has closed after 22 years in the Ashford Village. The cooperative has made a wonderful contribution to the Village and the Ashburton community providing support and outlet for a large group of talented women and men. Members say they have enjoyed being part of the Village, the companionship of fellow artists and crafts folk and meeting customers from around the world.
Last week Richard visited Chile to assist Rossana Salata, her father Louis and their wonderful team exhibit at Materiaprima, a huge craft exhibition in Santiago. Rossana and Louis have 7 Cosuritas shops in various locations across Santiago and also distribute Ashford throughout Chile. Rossana and Louis have been selling Ashford for over 15 years and this show reinforced Ashford as the leader for spinning, weaving and carding equipment in Chile.
Elizabeth and Richard have just returned from a trip to Japan visiting our customers in Tokyo and Kyoto. Although we have been doing business in Japan for over forty years this was Elizabeth’s first visit and she loved the warm, gracious people, fabulous food and the amazing textile heritage.
