Maximo Laura and his daughter Paola enjoyed touring the factory during their one-day visit to Ashburton.

Maximo, a Peruvian tapestry weaver, is internationally recognised as one of South America’s pre-eminent textile artists and teachers. His tapestries that integrate ancestral techniques, Andean symbols with contemporary art and textile design, have earned many awards, including “National Living Human Treasure” of Peru for Maximo.

Maximo is in New Zealand by invitation from Creative Fibre (NZ Spinning, Weaving and Woolcraft Society) to give a series of residential workshops.
