"The Anniversary Elizabeth 30 Ashford Spinning Wheel I have spun for over 50 years importing my first Traditional in 1974 before Ashford had dealerships in Australia. I own also a Traveller 3, Kiwi 3, e-spinner and now my magnificent Lizzie, Ashford’s Elizabeth 30. I cannot praise this wheel enough and feel privileged every time I sit with her to spin, she has a presence that delights all my senses. She is exquisite to look at, her wheel stands proud and she is so pleasing she sets the whole ambience of any room, taking everyone who sees her excitedly back into times of glorious wheels we liken to fairytales and earlier times in our history. No one can resist touching her with sheer delight. Her beauty hides her fantastic engineering and design that has culminated over the last 90 years with Ashford’s family and teams. This wheel is so smooth it glides while you spin. And keeps gliding without peddling. I love the easy hooks on the flyer and with four bobbins which hold around 100 grams of yarn each, I can spin for hours. There are three whorl disk options. From the finest, middle to the Jumbo. Her big wheel puts a lot of twist the smaller the whorl size making fine spinning easy, medium, less twist, or the larger Jumbo offering softer more open twist and thicker or novel yarns. On her finer whorl, she will just glide effortlessly with a pedal stroke so slowly you wonder how it maintains its flow. Or using the smaller of the three options on the Jumbo whorl I can treadle as I normally would say on a Traditional more rhythmically and the treadling leading my spinning action that is naturally my style. The Elizabeth 30 is easy to assemble due to such excellent instructions it took about two hours without effort. Due to the insight of Ashford’s this wheel offers every option you could ask for in one."
