Vav – Sweden
VAV 25 – 27 September 2025
VAV is Europe’s largest weaving fair and is held every three years in different cities across Sweden.
This year Richard and Elizabeth were thrilled to attend the fair and support Emma and Suzanne Mellgren of Gudruns Ullbod (pictured above) in Gavle Sweden. As always VAV included an exhibition of rich traditional and contemporary weaving and textile arts from all around Sweden, workshops, presentations and, of course, an opportunity to see and try all the new equipment.
Emma and Suzanne were exhibiting and demonstrating the complete Ashford range of wheels, looms, carders, fibres, and yarns. VAV was attended by 1000’s of passionate textile artists from as far afield as Australia and Japan, many of whom left with their prized Ashford purchases. Emma, Suzanne, Richard, and Elizabeth were keep very busy demonstrating the range to the enthusiastic visitors over the course of the 3 days.
Richard and Elizabeth were also very happy to meet old friends and dealers at the show, Lina Lundquist of Artifilum for France, Daniela Linhartova and her daughter Daniela of DALIN Praha Czech Republic and Yukka and Mona Yrjola of TOIKA Finland. We were very grateful they made the journey to VAV to meet us and see the latest Ashford products.
Belinda Maria Gredig a student from Germany found the Ashford e-Carder perfect for preparing nettle for hand spinning on her Kiwi spinning wheel.
